LightWave 3D Advanced Modeling: Project Viper
Kevin Phillips New: $44.95

I bought this because I am actually a BattleStar Galactica fan -- the fact that they use LW in BSG was one of the reasons I went with LW in the beginning. This is a good instructional video. Kevin is a great guy, too, and answers questions from those doing his videos on the Kurv forum. That is really impressive! Being able to speak with the author of a Tutorial is a great deal.

LightWave 3D Advanced Texturing & Rendering: Project Viper

I like this DVD a lot. It's a continuation of the Modeling video. The best part is he GIVES you the Viper Model, in case you didn't start with his other DVD. I learned a lot about LW texturing through this DVD.

LightWave 3D 8 From the Beginning
Layne Smith New: $39.95
This is a very under-rated video. I think Layne does one of the best jobs "teaching" LW of anyone I have seen. I liked his approach -- it is especially tailored for those who are interested in using LW in illustration. Unfortunately, it is out of date now.

Taron's Organic Modeling (Gnomonology)

This is a great DVD. I like what Taron can do with so few polys, and I was amazed to watch someone work the LW Modeler well. I personally parted ways with LW's Modeler. But this DVD almost made me reconsider. I followed along in Silo, and I talked about it here:

SILO
Get Into Silo The Definitive Guide
Glen Southern New: $39.95

Deals with Silo 1.42. A bit dated now. Glen started his own website, www.subdivisionmodeling.com which is worth joining. Glen is a really good guy and if he ever updated this for Silo 2.0, it would be worth a buy for beginners.. The Dinosaur model session on this DVD caused a stir, because Glen does not include the reference artwork... but a quick google search can find it. It also gives a good working example of the topology brush.

Silo II Modeling a Head
Glen Southern New: $44.95

This is a poly-by-poly instructional video which shows Glen modeling a Troll head. This is a Silo DVD, but the technique could easily be used by any package. Decent DVD, but not worth it IMHO, since the same info is available online.

ZBRUSH

Get Into ZBRUSH (2)

Glen Southern New: $39.95

Similar to the Silo DVD, this walks you through the menus and features. He does a good job explaining the concept of 2.5D which is a zBrush only thing, and is very confusing when you first start the tool. Outdated now. The new Kurv video on zBrush 3 feels rushed. I think they were in a hurry to get it out to time the release with ZB3.0.
